When will Horizon be making the move?
We plan to be moved into the new facility by April 1st, 2011. We do not want this news to cause a disruption in the schedule or daily routine for your child. We know this information is going to create many questions. Once we have totally informed you, answered all questions, and received your permission, we will transfer your child.
New Location
Horizon Academy is expanding and we will be relocating our facility to beautiful La Verkin, Utah. Cross Creek Manor will be welcoming us in sharing their large facility.
What are the benefits of the new facility?
• Greater opportunities for student to be involved in weekly service
• Convenient access to medical facilities in town
• Reduced transportation fees
• Better services
• Team sport opportunities (Boxing, cross country, basketball, softball)
• Access to National parks and many other outdoor activities
• Equestrian Program
• The distance from the Las Vegas Airport to the facility is the same
• A short drive from St. George, Ut. Airport
• Better hotel and travel accommodations
• Sharing a facility with a residential treatment center
• More socialization with other teens
When can I see the new facility?
You will be welcome anytime to visit the new facility.
There is a scheduled parent-child (PC) seminar for those families who have received invitations. The seminar will be held at the new facility on April 15-16, and again in May.
What will happen once my Student is at the new facility in Utah?
It will be important that we provide a sense of stability, support, and connectedness for your child. Peer influence continues to be important at this stage. Groups will be available so your child can have a structured, stable, peer support. The president of Resource Realization will be working with your child in a seminar the first week he or she is at the new campus. The seminar will be focused on communication and change.
Dr. Chappuis will be making the transition with Horizon. He will be available for individual and group therapy. My wife is starting her intern hours working with our Horizon Academy students. She has completed her course work to receive her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). She will be available to talk to you and your child. She has worked with your child in weekly community groups.
My wife and I love working to strengthen families. We have always taken pride in our facility and our desire to be a part of this challenging, but rewarding process. We assure you that we will continue to support and direct a facility that creates an opportunity for your child to make the changes needed to rejoin with you again.
